ELLE (Canada) - - StoryBoard -

Blondie’s back; a bacon lover’s cocktail; why girl spies are taking over TV; the best new Canadian music and literature.

We have seriously cool

homegrown talent.

I wonder sometimes if I have a lot of Canadian pride. The concept of national identity seems vague and strangely “us vs. them.” (Who is “them” in the face of globalization anyway?) While helping to put this issue together, however, I quickly realized that much of the talent we happened to be vibing on is Canadian. Coincidence? Not likely. It served as a reminder that our country is not only pretty banging in the scenery department but it also has a cultural legacy that commands pride. KATHRYN HUDSON
