Three skincare breakthroughs are coming your way this fall. Study up.

ADVANCED CHEM

BRANDRodan + Fields. CHEAT SHEET Rodan + Fields was developed by Dr. Katie Rodan and Dr. Kathy Fields, the dermatologists behind the acnefighting line Proactiv. With a goal to provide dermquality results without a visit to the doc, they have created a product line that includes anti-aging, blemish-control and sensitive-skin treatments. Try theAMPMDMicro-Exfoliating Roller ($237, sold as part of the AMPMD four-piece system), which is engineered with micro-needle tips to create a fractionated exfoliation. (Think of it as a mini manual laser that doesn’t puncture skin.) Rodan advises that you roll it “over your face, your neck and the back of your hands for one minute a day” and then follow up with the retinol-rich Rodan + Fields Reverse Dual Active Brightening Complex ($111).

GUIDANCE COUNSELLOR

BRANDClinique Skincare. CHEAT SHEET If your skin needs help, Clinique’s new Smart Custom-Repair Serum ($69) is the ultimate caretaker. “It repairs the damage you see but also the damage you don’t see—the kind that may be working its way to the surface,” says Janet Pardo, the brand’s senior vice-president of product development, adding that this one-stop-shop serum custom treats skin’s specific issues depending on what is required. If your skin sends out a distress signal to reduce inflammation, red algae, licorice and caffeine are called in to work for the day. And if you don’t have an issue with hyperpigmentation, spot-fighting ingredients such as grape extract and skullcap—the root extract of a potent flowering herb—won’t kick in until you need them. Another savvy launch from the brand? Clinique Sonic SystemPurifying Cleansing Brush ($95).

ART MAJOR

BRAND Joe Fresh Skincare. CHEATSHEET When Joe Fresh decided to go into skincare, its mandate was for the packaging to be as pretty as the potions inside. “We wanted to make sure the packaging reflected the brand’s clean and modern design sensibility,” says Joe Mimran, creative director for Joe Fresh. The nine-piece collection is formulated and manufactured in Canada and uses plant-derived ingredients such as seabuckthorn oil and aloe vera. Try the translucent, and thus compatible with all skin tones, Universal CCCream ($16) or the Facial Toner ($12), which adds a tangerine peppiness to your bathroom cabinet.
