What we’re talking about this month.
MUST-SEE EXHIBIT Best known for her massive abstracts, Vancouver-based painter Landon Mackenzie has long been influenced by iconic modernist Emily Carr. Her upcoming solo exhibit, In Dialogue With Carr: Landon Mackenzie, at the Vancouver Art Gallery (September 20, 2014, to March 8, 2015), draws links between Mackenzie’s own energetic works, which are heavily influenced by the northeastern landscape, and Carr’s legacy. (She was one of the first to try to represent the Canadian wild with a modernist approach.) The show is sure to be as dizzying as Mackenzie’s colourful oeuvres.
