It’s the first snowfall of the season, you’ve just won an epic snowball fight and your posse is thirsty (and numb). Invite them in for this toasty tipple that’s all gingery steam and perky citrus bite. It was created by Gabrielle Panaccio of Montreal’s Le Lab bar, and it’s her grown-up answer to hot cocoa: “There’s nothing better than a hot cocktail after playing in the snow, and this one is guaranteed to warm you up!” Victory is sweet, indeed.

At Le Lab, they use a devilishly good housemade “Hell’s Ginger” syrup ($18.95, at Alambika, alambika.ca) for this drink.
11/ 2 oz. rum 1 dash orange bitters 1/2 oz. lemon juice 1 oz. ginger syrup Mango-flavoured tea Ginger and orange to garnish
