It’s the first snow­fall of the sea­son, you’ve just won an epic snow­ball fight and your posse is thirsty (and numb). In­vite them in for this toasty tip­ple that’s all gin­gery steam and perky cit­rus bite. It was cre­ated by Gabrielle Panac­cio of Mon­treal’s Le Lab bar, and it’s her grown-up an­swer to hot co­coa: “There’s noth­ing bet­ter than a hot cock­tail after play­ing in the snow, and this one is guar­an­teed to warm you up!” Vic­tory is sweet, in­deed.

At Le Lab, they use a dev­il­ishly good house­made “Hell’s Ginger” syrup ($18.95, at Alam­bika, alam­bika.ca) for this drink.

RECIPE

11/ 2 oz. rum 1 dash orange bit­ters 1/2 oz. le­mon juice 1 oz. ginger syrup Mango-flavoured tea Ginger and orange to gar­nish

Com­bine in­gre­di­ents in a toddy glass or cof­fee mug and add hot tea just be­fore serv­ing. The ginger male celebs with whom we’d love to share cheer: Prince Harry, Bene­dict Cum­ber­batch, Ewan McGregor, Damian Lewis and Raggedy Andy
