What’s your earliest fashion memory? “I was always very particular about what I wore, even when I was three years old.” Were you always interested in modelling? “I grew up in Kitchener [Ont.], and I played sports. When I got scouted, it was really the beginning of it all.” What do you love about doing runway? “You’re really immersed in a fashion world where you get to see all the latest trends and travel with your friends—it’s like a travelling circus in a way.” What are some of the best moments from your career so far? “This is pretty high on the list. Not everyone can say they went to Disneyland to do a shoot!” Do you have any favourite Disney characters? “The first movie I ever saw in a theatre was The Little Mermaid. I loved Pocahontas too. Before, it was all about being a princess, but Pocahontas—she was fierce.” Where do you see yourself going from here? “I think you should live your life based on what makes you happy. I love what I do, so I’m just going to ride it out and see what happens.” LAURA deCARUFEL
