It’s refreshing to see a fashion magazine feature an article about spirituality at a time when such a topic could be deemed controversial. I was pleasantly surprised when I read “Sacred Space” by Joana Lourenço [ELLE Trend, December 2014]. I’ve always loved fashion and religion, even though the two rarely seem to go hand in hand. I used to think that my love of clothes was too materialistic for my Catholic values, but, as I’ve matured, I’ve learned that as long as you keep things in balance, it’s possible for style and piety to coexist. Fashion, after all, is an expression of one’s creativity and a form of art, and art is definitely something the Roman Catholic tradition is deeply steeped in. Bravo for printing such a relevant piece. BARBARA ELAINE CAMANO, CALGARY
