Make Up For Ever is launching its first collaboration. Working with Fifty Shades of Grey’s movie production team, the beauty brand has created four colour kits inspired by the lead female character, Anastasia Steele. Victoria Down, the makeup-department head for the film, used the Desire Me Cheeky Blush Trio ($56) to conjure up Steele’s post-coital glow, blending the darker-pink blush across the apples of the cheeks, on the nose and a little on the chin and hairline. “It gave the appearance of a healthy flush from under the skin and not like ‘applied’ blush,” she says. “To create her highlighted-cheek look, I used pink and coral blushes dusted very lightly under the cheekbones as a contouring tool.”

The clever minds behind Burt’s Bees have launched their (100-percent natural) take on the ubiquitous lip crayon. These creamy, fragrance-free lip colours contain moisturizing ingredients shea butter and kendi and jojoba oils but still have a semi-matte (and, thus, modern) texture. The six shades take inspiration from the natural eye candy of geographical regions, such as the warm sands of Arizona and the colourful spring flowers of Niagara-on-the-Lake. No passport required. Burt’s Bees Lip Crayon in Napa Vineyard, Redwood Forest, Sedona Sands, Niagara Overlook and Carolina Coast ($10 each)
