Brush up

Meet fall’s magic wands (from top): • Ev­ery­thing about the NARS Au­da­cious Mas­cara ($34) brush is high drama—from its sig­na­ture jun­gle-red colour to the 200 plas­tic bris­tles and hooks that en­snare lashes. • Lise Watier Dra­ma­tique In­tense 3D Vol­ume Mas­cara’s ($24) teardrop-shaped brush en­sures that lashes, long and short, are en­hanced to epic pro­por­tions. • Swirl the Cover-Girl The Su­per Sizer ($11) wand while ap­ply­ing; this en­ables the in­ter­spersed mini-bris­tles to coat as close as pos­si­ble to the lash line. • The sur­face area and moulded bris­tles of the Clin­ique Chubby Lash Fat­ten­ing Mas­cara wand ($20) catch lashes in one quick swipe.

As Coco Chanel once said, “Sim­plic­ity is the key­note of all true el­e­gance”—and, in this case, good skin­care. This month sees the launch of La So­lu­tion 10 de Chanel Sen­si­tive Skin Cream ($106), a hy­poal­ler­genic and fra­grance-free lo­tion that con­tains only 10 in­gre­di­ents, in­clud­ing hy­drat­ing glyc­er­ine and shea but­ter. Dr. Amy Wech­sler, a der­ma­tol­o­gist and Chanel’s skin­care ad­viser, came up with the vi­sion for the prod­uct after she no­ticed that pa­tients with sen­si­tive skin couldn’t tell if their is­sues were caused by their life­style or the multi-in­gre­di­ent prod­ucts in their skin­care reg­i­men. Wech­sler also asked Chanel re­searchers to in­clude the most po­tent an­tiox­i­dant tea that they could find. They chose sil­ver-nee­dle white tea, which comes from China and con­tains dou­ble the polyphe­nols found in green tea.
