the life aquatic
On-set for our cover shoot in Mexico, the dress code was strictly “dive-school chic”
There’s no stopping Canadian model Kate Bock. Here, the 2013 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Rookie of the Year tells us what it’s like living the dream.
Where do you want to escape to this winter? “I’m crossing my fingers and hoping I end up in Tahiti! I’ve never been and would love to stay in one of those glass-bottom rooms where you can see the fish under your feet.” What’s your beach-bag beauty must-have? “So much sunscreen. No one looks cute with a burn!” What song is on your I-can-conquer-the-world playlist?
“Katy Perry’s ‘Roar.’” Who inspires you? “Heidi Klum. She started out like any girl and has become a superstar and businesswoman while having a family.” What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced? “This career wasn’t easy at the beginning. I was alone and far away from home and had to find my way around foreign cities. It was hard, but I always wanted to be where I am now, and I found a way to get here.” What’s one of your biggest dreams? “I think I honestly dreamed of the life I’m now living. I’m going to continue to work hard, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.” What’s your best advice for staying motivated? “Everyone is going to hit road bumps and have hard days. Stay inspired by keeping in mind what you want most. Don’t lose faith because of what’s happening right now.”
