ed­i­tor’s POV Dior’s re­sort 2016 col­lec­tion was staged in a space-age par­adise–the ideal set­ting for what crit­ics de­scribed as Raf Si­mons’ most for­ward-think­ing de­signs. It’s per­haps no co­in­ci­dence, now that Si­mons has left Dior, that his sec­ond-to-last show for the house ex­hib­ited such in­de­pen­dence of spirit. Si­mons’ de­par­ture is proof that even a dream job can have its lim­i­ta­tions and that in or­der to progress, it’s nec­es­sary to be fear­less in the pur­suit of some­thing new.
