editor’s pov

The phrase “a river runs through it” came to mind as I hiked along the Firth River canyon, which cuts through 150 kilometres of alpine tundra in Ivvavik National Park near Yukon’s northern tip. It’s difficult to get here—only 113 people set foot in the 10,000-square-kilometre park in 2015—but that’s part of the attraction. It’s easy to dream big when you have such a far-flung and far-reaching part of the world all to yourself.
