It may be our birthday this month, but we’re looking to the future, not unlike January Jones (page 54) as she embarks on her post- MadMen chapter. I’m also inspired by a past grande dame of cinema, Marlene Dietrich. The biographical novel Marlene (out May 24) is beautifully written by C. W. Gortner. One of Dietrich’s most famous lines can be found in the first chapter: “I never think about the future.” And I propose we do just that: Enjoy this moment for as long as we can.

“I just want to chill and do normal stuff.” – January Jones on life after Betty Draper

Current mindfulness motto (courtesy of Marlene Dietrich):

“Seeing twilight fall should be prescribed by doctors.”
