EDITOR’S POV

Elle (Canada) - - Travel -

I’ve never done an extended solo trip (like Maryam Siddiqi’s 193-day voyage; see page 150), but I regularly go on shorter individual adventures. I loved road-tripping along the Big Sur coast, stopping whenever and wherever I wanted, and meandering around Bangkok at my own pace. Being alone with my thoughts in new places (with new experiences) takes me outside of my “everyday” self; it gives me the time and space to develop new trains of thought—and the freedom to see myself in a new light.
