fellow kyivlanka

I’ve been a devout ELLE Canada reader for two years, but the story about a trip to Kyiv, Ukraine [“A Kyivlanka’s Diary,” ELLE Travel, November 2016], is something I related to on a personal level. Like the writer, I left the country when I was 10 years old, and visiting home was just as nostalgic for me. I have to agree with the popularity of vyshyvanky [traditional embroidered blouses]. It was weird to see people who aren’t of Ukrainian heritage rocking this trend, but I have a new appreciation for its revival. Mariya-Kvitlana Tsap, Toronto

DAKOTA TIME

Your November cover reminded me of the time Dakota Fanning appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show and gave her a scarf she’d knitted. I thought it was so sweet. I always wished that Oprah would say that that was one of her favourite gifts! June Rittmeyer, email

SHOPPING TIME

I really enjoyed reading “Fashion Forward with Nordstrom” [October 2016] because I’m thrilled that Nordstrom has finally come to Toronto. I even got tickets to the Eaton Centre Nordstrom grand-opening gala. Score! Melanie Barnett, Oshawa, Ont.
