THE SPORTS BRA’S HUMBLE BEGINNINGS.

Early 20th century The corset can be considered the OG sports bra. It was worn by equestrians and tennis players. 1966 Roberta Gibb runs the Boston Marathon—the first woman in history to do so—wearing her bathing suit for support. 1977 World, meet the jogbra. The first sports bra—originally two jockstraps sewn together— is developed. 2011 Lululemon introduces the Energy bra, which is one of the brand’s most popular sports bras to date. 2017 Sports-bra sales are up 13 percent year over year in Canada, according to market research company NPD Group.
