ELLE Man (Canada) - - CULTURE -

When Canadian poet (and “voice of the nation”) Al Purdy died, he left behind an A-frame house along the shore of a lake in Ontario’s Prince Edward County that his writing so perfectly channelled. A decade and a bit later, a who’s who of our country’s arts scene (Atwood, Ondaatje, Boyden et al.) return to the home site on a mission to restore the structure as a writer’s retreat and also honour the complicated, quixotic man who lived and wrote so much of our most beloved poetry there (in theatres now).
