What does your makeup re­veal about you? Is it time to switch things up?

When some­one chal­lenges you to be bold, it doesn’t mean you have to morph into an ex­tro­verted su­per­heroine who has ex­tra­or­di­nary phys­i­cal, emo­tional and in­tel­lec­tual pow­ers. Be­ing bold is about be­ing coura­geously au­then­tic, self-aware and con­fi­dent. It’s also about how you present your­self to the world. Fash­ion is one marker, but makeup is also an ex­pres­sion of your per­son­al­ity, says makeup artist Si­mone Otis.

“Whether you love In­sta­gram-in­spired makeup or an edited ap­proach that high­lights your favourite fea­tures, be­ing bold means fear­lessly own­ing your beauty,” ex­plains Otis, who is work­ing with Shop­pers Drug Mart Beauty Bou­tique on its #my­bold cam­paign. The pro­gram, which runs from Au­gust 12 to Septem­ber 8, in­vites women to boldly ex­plore their re­la­tion­ship with makeup. Otis has de­signed nine on-trend looks, in­clud­ing “Leg­endary Metal­lic” (left). Re­gard­less of whether you wear a lit­tle or a lot of makeup, you should ex­per­i­ment, says Otis, ad­ding that it’s one of the fastest ways to achieve an in­spir­ing and em­pow­er­ing trans­for­ma­tion. “You won’t break the bank, and you don’t have to cut your hair and then have bang re­gret,” she says. “You don’t even have to com­mit to any one look. You can put it on and wash it off.
