After reading “Knocked Up” [September 2017], I was reminded of the time in my life when I purchased my fair share of knock-off bags in the alleys of many U.S. cities. On the cusp of my 30th birthday, I thought: “Why and for whom am I carrying around these fake bags? If I’m trying to project an image, do I really want a fake purse to be part of that?” I decided to never buy fake again. Once a year, I treat myself to a new bag. When my daughter turns 21, she will be the lucky recipient of my collection. She will be able to carry a part of me wherever she goes, and I hope that is an image she can be proud of. —Laura (Toronto)
