she for­got her keys and had to knock at the liv­ing room win­dow her brother pulls up the blind points at the clock laughs

let me in she begs

her feet cold her friends as gone as her cur­few he slowly low­ers the blind turns up the tv

she could only wait sit in the old or­ange arm­chair her favourite of the dis­carded porch fur­ni­ture

af­ter he died and the world twisted like a rag rung out of wa­ter she would sit out there smok­ing cross legged on the porch ta­ble

the old one that used to be in the house and thought the world couldn’t pos­si­bly change any­more

when he fi­nally tires of his game and she hears him un­lock the door

he doesn’t say any­thing just goes back to watch­ing tv
