A 100-YEAR-OLD storefront in downtown Kitchener has been transformed into an artsy space selling artsy inventory.

The Artisan Zone, which opened in November 2013, showcases one-of-a-kind creations by Canadian artists and artisans in an appealing, bright store complete with a soaring ceiling and an open-concept design.

“When you come in here, the creative side of your brain starts going,” says Martin Kocak who owns the business along with his wife, Aimee. “It is a vacation for your mind from the real world with all of the artwork and everything else that is in here.”

The shop is the couple’s first retail venture, but they had long dreamed of bringing their passion for art and photography together under one roof. Their dream took shape when Aimee was looking to set up a studio for her Pure Photography business >>

Martin and Aimee Kocak are shown in Artisan Zone, a downtown Kitchener shop selling everything from candles and clothing to furniture and artworks.
