Putting families first
7th annual Family Appreciation Days a celebration of what matters most
June is Recreation Month across the Defence Community and celebrations started with a bang in the NCR with the 7 th annual Family Appreciation Days. We had the largest crowd ever this year with 7,500 people attending on Saturday alone and approximately 10,000 Defence Community members and their families participating over the two-day event. I want to thank our sponsors and our volunteers for helping us make it an outstanding event. I hope Defence members and their families enjoyed the two days of midway fun.
In Carling Campus news, the orientation sessions have ended for this rotation as the moves to buildings 8 and 9 are complete. The next time we will reconvene will be later in July as we begin to populate building 6.
On June 5, we successfully hosted the President of Chile at Rideau Hall.
Finally, CFSU(O) will be saying farewell to its members posted out this summer during a unit event on June 16 at CRPTC. Chief Dubuc and I would like to thank all of them for their dedication and hard work. We wish you all the best in your new posting.
The Guard of Honour wants to hear your stories. We encourage every member of the local Defence community to submit articles and photos they would like to share with their peers. If you have an event, a program update or an accomplishment to promote, or know of someone who does, please do not hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
