Deeply rooted in local culture
AUGUST 30 - SEPTEMBER 2, 2018
The Fête Arc-en-ciel (Rainbow) 2017 was marqued by a new visual identity representing equality and sexual diversity, the plurality of genders, and the City of Québec, a major partner of this festival and thus enhances the feeling of belonging. This identity will be seen in the many activities surrounding the 2018 Fête Arc-en-ciel which is organized by the Alliance Arc-en-ciel de Québec, a grass root LGBTQ rights organization in Québec City. Again for this 14th edition, this festival is rooted deeply in Quebec’s own French and francophile culture with music shows on Friday, Saturday and Sunday held at the Place d’Youville. Saint-Jean Street will be closed to trafic for the occasion and transformed into a pedestrian mall : there will defenately be a festive athmosphere on SaintJean Street espcially for the Saturday and Sunday Community Fair, with as many as 30 community groups on hand to present their services. The Community Fair is also an occasion to stroll down the street and discover many charming shops along this commercial street. On Sunday it’s time for the Solidarity March with a novelty this year, a family oriented space. Celebrating Pride means also having a blast ! Québec City’s two LGBTQ bars, Drague Cabaret Club and St. Matthew’s, will offer special events, shows, Dj’s and parties. The street in front of Drague Cabaret Club will be transformed into a large terrace while one can participate to the many evening shows at the Cabaret. For a long weekend between friends, family or lovers, Quebec City will be the place to be for this Labour Day weekend !
