Welcome distraction

Herizons - - Letters -

As I was heading to the public library for a quiet evening of browsing through staid periodicals, I checked my mailbox, found the spring issue of Herizons and stuffed it in my bag. As I settled down to read in the library, the defiant image of Nalo Hopkinson on the cover beckoned—and there went my quiet evening! Radical feminist science fiction, rape in Russia, the transgender community in traditional India and the LGBT movement in its modern incarnation, the failure of the Canadian penal system with its vulnerable citizens, “to hijab or not to hijab,” the environment and many more topics kept me wired and ready for more.

Thanks for keeping it edgy! Maya Khankhoje Montreal
