MID-ENGINE ITALIAN PERFORMANCE, WITH HALF THE CYLINDERS

The gorgeous Alfa Romeo 4C Spider is a bitesize helping of open-air Italian performance, its tiny 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine size sounding downright commuter-like, and about half the size (in displacement and cylinder count) as most other mid-engine Italian sports cars. But its 237 hp and sub-2,500 pound (1,134 kg) curb weight result in a more impressive number: 4.1 seconds, its zero to 96 km/h sprint time.
