Sum­mer­side man charged with rob­bing store at knife­point

A 31-year-old man from Sum­mer­side was ar­rested Thurs­day morn­ing for al­legedly rob­bing a con­ve­nience store with a knife.

Wed­nes­day at 11:44 p.m., Sum­mer­side Po­lice Ser­vice re­ceived a re­port of a panic alarm sound­ing at the store.

Of­fi­cers re­sponded and staff said they had been robbed at knife­point. They said the sus­pect fled the area on foot just be­fore po­lice ar­rived.

No one was in­jured. Po­lice iden­ti­fied a sus­pect, who was lo­cated and ar­rested early Thurs­day morn­ing.

The man has been charged with rob­bery, two counts of breach of an un­der­tak­ing and pos­ses­sion of a con­trolled sub­stance. He will re­main in cus­tody un­til next week.

Po­lice con­tinue to in­ves­ti­gate the in­ci­dent.
