Gas drops almost eight cents
Gas prices decreased by almost eight cents a litre overnight Thursday as the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission announced its midmonth price adjustments for petroleum products.
Gas prices are now between 111.8 to 112.9 cents per litre for regular, unleaded fuel at selfserve outlets. The price dropped by 7.7 cents per litre just after midnight. There was no change announced for the price of furnace oil, stove oil or diesel. The commission attributes the drop to “significant decreases” in the wholesale price of gasoline. It raised the price of gas by four cents for its regularly scheduled adjustment Sept. 1, and a week later followed it by an unscheduled change for a further eight-cent increase.
