Jeb up­sets in CDP fea­ture

A pocket tide was all it took to land on top in the Thurs­day evening fea­ture at Red Shores at the Char­lot­te­town Driv­ing Park.

In line to Ja­son Hughes, Jeb left off the rail in the $2,200 fea­ture and re­leased heavy fa­vorite No­great­mis­chief, driven by Wal­ter Chev­erie, to the front. No­great­mis­chief laid down front end frac­tions of 29.1, 58.3 and 1:28.1 with Jeb sit­ting in the two-hole at 7-1. Hughes tipped the pacer out at the head of the stretch to power by and win in 1:57.1 for own­ers Robi Hughes and Blair and Eric MacLauch­lan. Red Magician (Adam Merner) was sec­ond with No­great­mis­chief third to com­plete the $392.25 tri­ac­tor. Dusty Lane Ja­cob cap­tured the $1,850 Open trot for driver Merner, co-owner and trainer Cindy MacDon­ald of Mon­tague and co-owner Tanya MacK­in­non of Souris. Time of the mile was 1:59.4.

Drew Neill of Winsloe cel­e­brated the first win of his young train­ing ca­reer. The 17-year-old horse­man con­di­tions Cougar Gal who landed in the win­ner’s cir­cle in a mile of 2:00.1 at 17-1 odds. The nine-year-old daugh­ter of Amer­i­can Ideal is owned by Neal Moase of War­ren Grove.

Driv­ers Gordie Hen­nessey, Hughes and Merner all scored driv­ing dou­bles.
