Repurposing for a purpose
Habitat for Humanity presents third annual design challenge fundraiser
Habitat for Humanity Prince Edward Island presents its third annual RePurpose for a Purpose Design Challenge Gala on Oct. 14.
The gala will be held at Charlottetown’s Delta Prince Edward in the Palmer Pope Ballroom.
RePurpose for a Purpose Design Challenge is Habitat for Humanity P.E.I.’s premiere fall fundraiser. A live-competitionstyle event, teams of designers, working with materials from HFHPEI’s own ReStore, will repurpose and refinish well-loved items into beautiful new masterpieces right before guests’ eyes.
Guests are invited to mingle with friends to the sounds of local musicians in the background, munching on appetizers and watch as worn out furniture and decorative items are given new life by talented artists.
At the gala, teams will be provided with a 10 x 10 space to do their finishing touches and display their works of art. Participants will have 60 minutes to complete their pieces live in front of the audience. There will also be a Surprise Challenge for the designers to complete during the evening.
At the end of the evening the audience will be able to vote for People’s Choice Award, and all pieces will be auctioned off to the audience, with proceeds going to HFHPEI to assist with house building efforts in 2018. RePurpose for a Purpose Design Challenge Gala will feature delicious food, entertainment by Island musicians, and chances to win great door prizes.
Tickets are available for $35 with corporate ticket packages available for $250. The event kicks off at 7 p.m.
