KENS­ING­TON – The Town of Kens­ing­ton is start­ing to work to­wards compliance to the new Mu­nic­i­pal Gov­er­nance Act.

The town’s chief ad­min­is­tra­tive of­fi­cer in­formed coun­cil re­cently that while the town’s poli­cies are al­ready mostly in line with the new act, some by­laws will re­quire tweak­ing, while oth­ers will have to be drafted and adopted from scratch. For ex­am­ple, the town does not have a con­flict of in­ter­est by­law, so one will have to be de­vel­oped.

Town staff will be bring­ing res­o­lu­tions for­ward for coun­cil over the next sev­eral months to en­sure the town’s poli­cies meet the re­quire­ments un­der the act.
