“An open heart”
Å meaningful and special ceremony was presented at the opening of the June 5 meeting of the CWL as a testimonial to the late Margaret Hulagrocki, as the league’s tribute to her memory. Teresa Kuka, spiritual convener, gave a passionate outline of Margaret’s contribution to the league.
“She had a great love of learning and was always ready to get involved despite often going through difficult times. She offered her services with an open heart and best intentions for their success not only to the league but to the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 12; and the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Auxiliary. We will miss Margaret and her beautiful smile. As days go by she will cross all our minds that will remind her league, legion and auxiliary friends it was good we knew her and appreciate the effect she had on all our lives.”
President Rosemary Bain then took the chair delivering her excellent and informative experience attending the Diocesan convention in Thunder Bay in May alongside Judy Imbeault, secretary.
“It was a spiritual and information group of spiritual sessions and workshops including learning the formation history of the CWL in Canada. We also are excited to help move the league across Canada into the 21st Century, specially with regard to computers, iPods and other hi-tech electronic devices.”
In concluding here report Bain stressed how great the power of prayer is in today’s world.
Jocelyn Laffin outlined the league’s November Christmas Tea & Bazaar special fund raising raffle she will convene with Kim Lemay. Laffin also talked about the Diocesan convention being hosted by Kenora and Keewatin leagues May 2018.
Jocelyn is a busy woman within the league as she noted sympathy and Mass cards were mailed to 11 members of deceased families; one get well card and a 100th birthday card to long time member, Eileen Portier. She advised a sympathy card would be mailed to members of recently deceased Bernice (Boots) Lalonde Brubaker’s family.
