Grand­mother Con­nec­tion rais­ing funds at an­nual event

The Kingston Grand­mother Con­nec­tion is hold­ing its an­nual Spring Mar­ket for Africa on Satur­day, April 28.

The group of lo­cal grand­moth­ers, great aunts and other se­nior women work to raise funds to sup­port African grand­moth­ers who con­tinue to raise grand­chil­dren whose par­ents have died of HIV/ AIDS.

The Kingston Grand­mother Con­nec­tion works with the Stephen Lewis Foun­da­tion and Help Le­sotho.

Avail­able items for sale in­clude, plants, African bas­kets, jewelry, bak­ing items, sewing, used fash­ion and sand­glass cre­ations.

A hot soup lunch will also be avail­able. Ad­mis­sion is free. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Sal­va­tion Army Ci­tadel, 816 Cen­ten­nial Dr. at Tay­lor-Kidd Boule­vard.
