Jumping and flipping
RECREATION. This weekend, Sky Zone Dorval will be hosting its grand opening ceremony with an open house for the public. Demonstrations in the different sections, acrobatic performances and free access to the facility will await visitors to this family-friendly entertainment centre.
Just off highway 40 near Sources Blvd., there is a new space filled with acrobatic equipment built for all skill levels to play, exercise or compete. Within the walls lie trampolines, foam pits, obstacles and more, divided into sections from easy to difficult based on activity and age.
Open since early January, there are already some regular customers who exercise intensely, according to staffer Asfand. «Ten minutes jumping on a trampoline is like a 30 minute run and there are lots of people who come here to get in shape,» he explains.
Athlete to amateur, Asfand says there is something for everyone.
The massive wall-to-wall trampoline court allows children to climb ladders and jump around in safety, and those under the age of six can visit the Toddler Zone.
Trampoline-enhanced versions of basketball and volleyball can be played and there is a jousting pit, a rock-climbing area and the park has two dodgeball courts.
«We are hoping to convince the Police and Fire department to come and have a dodge ball game. We would like to make it a regular fundraising event,» explains General Manager Clevon Davis.
Davis is hoping to offer monthly activities for teens and kids so they can hang out, stay healthy and safe. He wants his location to become a place where local families can share a fun and active experience together.
Mayor of Dorval Edgar Rouleau will be part of the open house as staff is excited about the special Saturday to present their facility.
