Message for POTUS

Le Reflet (The News) - - ACTUALITÉS • NEWS -

The United Counties of Prescott-Russell (UCPR) has a message to pass on to President Donald Trump. The UCPR suggest that the current president of the United States rethink his idea of cancelling funding for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), because this will have a serious impact on the condition of the Great Lakes. UCPR council gave unanimous support, during its April 26 session, to a resolution from Lasalle town council to lobby the provincial and federal governments to contact their counterparts, south of the border, and argue against EPA funding cuts since algal blooms and other aquatic infestations are still a problem in the Great Lakes, and can pose problems for tourism activities like boating, fishing, and swimming, and also affect the water supply for some shoreline communities. Hawkesbury Mayor Jeanne Charlebois urged her fellow mayors on UCPR council to support giving President Trump a message “and letting him know how we feel.”–
