Russell celebrates a rich agricultural heritage !
The Russell Fair is said to have attracted about 100,000 visitors for its 159th edition! During the 4-day event, all had a chance to discover as well as enjoy a wide array of activities and entertainment. New this year was the costume class, part of the sheep shearing demonstration, who saw little bo peep, 6-year-old ava tedford, win the first prize, along with her sheep Elsa.
With an estimated 6500 gate admissions, not including the kids, the Russell Agricultural Society (RAS) is guesstimating that the attendance the 159th Russell Fair this year was close to 10,000 people this year, going through the gates.
The various shows that the fair holds, like the cattle shows, the bull cutting, tractor pulls, brought a lot of people to the area. With Mother Nature on their side this year, many also attended the rides, derby and shows that were available throughout the successful weekend.

Avec une estimation d’environ 6500 entrées payantes, sans compter les enfants, la société agricole de Russell estime que la Russell Fair de cette année a été fréquentée par près de 10 000 personnes. En effet, les différents spectacles que la foire organise à chaque année, comme les spectacles de bétail, de moutons ou de tracteurs ont amené beaucoup de gens dans la région. Avec la présence du soleil cette année, beaucoup de gens ont également profité des manèges et assisté aux spectacles de lutte, de démolition, d’acrobatie et de musique qui étaient disponibles tout au long du weekend. On Friday evening, Kate Blanchard and her friend had a chance to be part of the Summer of 69 show, going onstage during the song When You’re Gone, a duet made famous by Bryan Adams and Sporty Spice.
All throughout the weekend, with four shows daily, the I-Flip Acrobatic Show surprised a lot of people with their energetic stunts on the trampolines.
On Saturday, many activities were in place for the children, including a petting zoo and play areas, where Emily and Hailey Bellerive are seen, playing with different toys, bare feet in the corn!
Alex and Lisa Palubicki enjoyed their time at the fair with daughter Layla. They also brought home an addition to the family, winning a giant comfy snake!
