Rus­sell ce­le­brates a rich agri­cul­tu­ral he­ri­tage !

The Rus­sell Fair is said to have at­trac­ted about 100,000 vi­si­tors for its 159th edi­tion! Du­ring the 4-day event, all had a chance to dis­co­ver as well as en­joy a wide ar­ray of ac­ti­vi­ties and en­ter­tain­ment. New this year was the cos­tume class, part of the sheep shea­ring de­mons­tra­tion, who saw lit­tle bo peep, 6-year-old ava ted­ford, win the first prize, along with her sheep El­sa.

With an es­ti­ma­ted 6500 gate ad­mis­sions, not in­clu­ding the kids, the Rus­sell Agri­cul­tu­ral So­cie­ty (RAS) is guess­ti­ma­ting that the at­ten­dance the 159th Rus­sell Fair this year was close to 10,000 people this year, going through the gates.

The va­rious shows that the fair holds, like the cat­tle shows, the bull cut­ting, trac­tor pulls, brought a lot of people to the area. With Mo­ther Na­ture on their side this year, ma­ny al­so at­ten­ded the rides, der­by and shows that were avai­lable throu­ghout the suc­cess­ful wee­kend.

Avec une es­ti­ma­tion d’en­vi­ron 6500 en­trées payantes, sans comp­ter les en­fants, la so­cié­té agri­cole de Rus­sell es­time que la Rus­sell Fair de cette an­née a été fré­quen­tée par près de 10 000 per­sonnes. En ef­fet, les dif­fé­rents spec­tacles que la foire or­ga­nise à chaque an­née, comme les spec­tacles de bé­tail, de mou­tons ou de trac­teurs ont ame­né beau­coup de gens dans la ré­gion. Avec la pré­sence du so­leil cette an­née, beau­coup de gens ont éga­le­ment pro­fi­té des ma­nèges et as­sis­té aux spec­tacles de lutte, de dé­mo­li­tion, d’acro­ba­tie et de mu­sique qui étaient dis­po­nibles tout au long du wee­kend. On Fri­day eve­ning, Kate Blan­chard and her friend had a chance to be part of the Sum­mer of 69 show, going ons­tage du­ring the song When You’re Gone, a duet made fa­mous by Bryan Adams and Spor­ty Spice.

All throu­ghout the wee­kend, with four shows dai­ly, the I-Flip Acro­ba­tic Show sur­pri­sed a lot of people with their ener­ge­tic stunts on the tram­po­lines.

On Sa­tur­day, ma­ny ac­ti­vi­ties were in place for the chil­dren, in­clu­ding a pet­ting zoo and play areas, where Emi­ly and Hai­ley Bel­le­rive are seen, playing with dif­ferent toys, bare feet in the corn!

Alex and Li­sa Pa­lu­bi­cki en­joyed their time at the fair with daugh­ter Lay­la. They al­so brought home an ad­di­tion to the fa­mi­ly, win­ning a giant com­fy snake!
