Russell Township begins budget discussions
This first draft of the 2018 budget for Russell Township was presented to council during its last meeting on October 2. The said budget forecasts an overall tax increase of 1.5%. Further discussions are to be held at the set budget working day sessions on October 18 and 19. Among other things, changes to the user fee schedules, as usually reviewed, will be presented during these public working sessions. Mayor Pierre Leroux highlighted that a tax increase of 1% represents an additional revenue of about $108,000 for the municipality. For the planned increase this year, an average household of $320,617 in assessment would be seeing an increase of $24.
