An important centrepiece of the Sports Dome will be the Founder’s Wall, which will recognize those who have contributed to the dome.

Any business that contributes $1000 or more and any individual or family that donates $500 or more to the sports dome will be enshrined on the Founder’s Wall for everyone to see as they enter the facility. “We are putting on a drive for the month of September, to ensure as many people and businesses are permanently on the Founder’s Wall, especially for the official opening,” said Doug Anthony, the fundraising chair for the sports dome.

Owned and operated by Russell Township, the sports dome will be a 60 000-square foot facility located between the villages of Embrun and Russell. It will be equipped with both artificial turf and solid flooring in order to accommodate a variety of activities and sports including football, soccer, tennis and bowling.

The objective for funds raised was set at between $400,000 and $500,000 and the dome has presently raised approximately $270,000 up to this point. The fabric for the dome portion of the facility is scheduled to arrive on October 6.

Anyone interested in donating can contact Doug Anthony at 613-445-6483 or at kindoug27@gmail.com.
