Last Sa­tur­day, Oc­to­ber 21, a spe­cial event took place at the Rus­sell Cur­ling Club in or­der to raise funds and awa­re­ness to Food Pro­tein-In­du­ced En­te­ro­co­li­tis Syn­drome (FPIES), in sup­port of lo­cal fa­mi­ly, Alex, Brit­ta­ny and Car­ter Camp­bell. Lit­tle Car­ter lives with FPIES, which is a type of food al­ler­gy af­fec­ting the gas­troin­tes­ti­nal tract. Clas­sic symp­toms of FPIES in­clude pro­fuse vo­mi­ting, diar­rhea, and de­hy­dra­tion. Un­like ty­pi­cal food al­ler­gies, symp­toms may not be im­me­diate and do not show up on stan­dard al­ler­gy tests. The event in­clu­ded a fa­shion show, as well as a silent and live auc­tion, pic­tu­red, with pro­ceeds going to Car­ter’s fa­mi­ly.
