Le Vortex de Bagotville

Bagotville Ball Hockey national champions

-

For the third time in four years, the men’s ball hockey team brought home the champions’ banner from the CAF’s national competition held at CFB Borden at the end of July.

The teams from CFB Halifax, representing the Atlantic Division, and CFB Bagotville, representing the Quebec division, met in the finals and competed for the first place.

The Bagotville team started strong, showing their speed and agility. They made several attempts to score early in the game but the Halifax goal keeper was able to make the saves. Bagotville also had an effective defense with proper positioning. Both goalkeepers often had to use their bodies to block a goal.

Player number 20 from Bagotville, Munger, scored the first goal at 13 minutes. 37 sec. into the first period with a beautiful demonstration of passes and an attack on the net. Moments later, a precise shot from Cashin, player number 10 from Halifax, tied the game 1- 1.

Bagotville took the lead early in the second period and Halifax failed to replicate during the second twenty minutes.

In the third period, goals were numerous and with intensity. Although Halifax was undefeated during the tournament, Bagotville, with beautiful passes and precision, led themselves to victory by a score of 4- 2.

Bagotville players are very proud to take home the winners’ banner which will join those won in 2013 and 2014 hanging inside the Benoît Chevalier arena.
