Ba­got­ville Ball Ho­ckey na­tio­nal cham­pions

For the third time in four years, the men’s ball ho­ckey team brought home the cham­pions’ ban­ner from the CAF’s na­tio­nal com­pe­ti­tion held at CFB Bor­den at the end of Ju­ly.

The teams from CFB Ha­li­fax, re­pre­sen­ting the At­lan­tic Di­vi­sion, and CFB Ba­got­ville, re­pre­sen­ting the Que­bec di­vi­sion, met in the fi­nals and com­pe­ted for the first place.

The Ba­got­ville team star­ted strong, sho­wing their speed and agi­li­ty. They made se­ve­ral at­tempts to score ear­ly in the game but the Ha­li­fax goal kee­per was able to make the saves. Ba­got­ville al­so had an ef­fec­tive de­fense with pro­per po­si­tio­ning. Both goal­kee­pers of­ten had to use their bo­dies to block a goal.

Player num­ber 20 from Ba­got­ville, Mun­ger, sco­red the first goal at 13 mi­nutes. 37 sec. in­to the first per­iod with a beau­ti­ful de­mons­tra­tion of passes and an at­tack on the net. Mo­ments la­ter, a pre­cise shot from Ca­shin, player num­ber 10 from Ha­li­fax, tied the game 1- 1.

Ba­got­ville took the lead ear­ly in the se­cond per­iod and Ha­li­fax fai­led to re­pli­cate du­ring the se­cond twen­ty mi­nutes.

In the third per­iod, goals were nu­me­rous and with in­ten­si­ty. Al­though Ha­li­fax was un­de­fea­ted du­ring the tour­na­ment, Ba­got­ville, with beau­ti­ful passes and pre­ci­sion, led them­selves to vic­to­ry by a score of 4- 2.

Ba­got­ville players are ve­ry proud to take home the win­ners’ ban­ner which will join those won in 2013 and 2014 han­ging in­side the Be­noît Che­va­lier are­na.
