New Transport and EME building construction will start soon
The construction project of the new building that will consolidate services of the Transport section and the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering section’s ( EME) services has just reached a new milestone with the launch of the call for public bids.
The new building is expected to cost nearly 50 million dollars to build and work could begin as early as this fall. The work is expected to last thirty months. According to Major Carl Gravel, commander of Bagot- ville’s real estate transactions detachment, a budget for this project is also included in the 2016- 2017 financial year ending March 31st, 2017. "We expect that the contractor who gets the contract will want to start as soon as possible. A sum has already been reserved to start the project this year, "says Maj Gravel. This new building will replace four buildings ( 76, 102, 122, Hangar 2), most of which were built in the 50’ s and 60’ s. These buildings will be demolished and the units will be moved in the new building.
