Le Vortex de Bagotville - - NEWS -

On November 25th, Bagotville military members are invited to become blood plasma donors at the Plasmavie Centre in Chicoutimi.

This day is designed specifically for military members and is an initiative of MCpl Véronique Savard, herself a donor in recent months. "Before donating plasma, I participated regularly in blood drives. I heard about last year's plasma donation and I read a lot about it before I decided to go to the collection centre, "says MCpl Savard. It was upon learning that her young neighbor Emma, aged three, was diagnosed with cancer that she decided to make an appointment. "I had read that plasma was very useful in the preparation of several medications used after chemotherapy or to treat certain immune system diseases. When I found out about Emma's illness, I wanted to do something concrete to help her and other sick children. From what I read about it, I knew it was the right thing to do," she explains, now in her eighth plasma donation. To make an appointment or to ask questions about plasma donation, military members should send an email to: annie. blackburn@ hema - quebec. qc. ca
