439 Squadron 100 % Operational
Last months were really busy for members of 439 Squadron.
In addition to a training exercise in Whitehorse, and supporting the operations and training of crews from 444 and 424 Squadrons, the Tigers finally reached 100% operational readiness in November.
Through a concerted effort by all of its members, 439 Squadron succeeded in ensuring that all of its material and human resources were available at the same time. The three squadron helicopters and all the crews were then ready to fly.
The last time the stars aligned for 439 Squadron was more than ten years ago, in 2005.
To mark this event, members of 439 Squadron were transported to a lookout in the
Mont Valin area and the unit’s three helicopters flew into formation to create an exceptional group photo.
In addition to this achievement, 439 Squadron is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. One of the squadron’s helicopters ( number 439) was painted in black and yellow tiger stripes, the emblem of the Squadron. Everything came together perfectly for this historic photo.
