NORAD Tracks Santa
As has now become tradition, in collaboration with the NORAD Command, two CF- 18 aircraft from 3 Wing Bagotville will escort Santa Claus into northeastern North America on Christmas Eve.
As part of the NORAD operation, which follows Santa Claus on his journey from the North Pole, several Canadian and American fighter jets will fly with the famous sled on Christmas Eve to ensure his safety. Two pilots from Bagotville will have the privilege of accompanying Santa Claus on his trip.
The NORAD Command has been following Santa Claus every year for more than 60 years, updating children on the old man's progress throughout his journey.
You can track the movements of Santa Claus on the
NORAD website at www.noradsanta.org.
According to the website, tracking Santa begins with NORAD’s North Warning System. This powerful radar system consists of 47 facilities deployed all along the North American border. NORAD monitors the radar closely to find out information about Santa Claus’s departure from the the North Pole on Christmas Eve.
