NORAD Tracks San­ta

As has now be­come tra­di­tion, in col­la­bo­ra­tion with the NORAD Com­mand, two CF- 18 air­craft from 3 Wing Ba­got­ville will es­cort San­ta Claus in­to nor­theas­tern North Ame­ri­ca on Ch­rist­mas Eve.

As part of the NORAD ope­ra­tion, which fol­lows San­ta Claus on his jour­ney from the North Pole, se­ve­ral Ca­na­dian and Ame­ri­can figh­ter jets will fly with the fa­mous sled on Ch­rist­mas Eve to en­sure his sa­fe­ty. Two pi­lots from Ba­got­ville will have the pri­vi­lege of ac­com­pa­nying San­ta Claus on his trip.

The NORAD Com­mand has been fol­lo­wing San­ta Claus every year for more than 60 years, up­da­ting chil­dren on the old man's pro­gress throu­ghout his jour­ney.

Ac­cor­ding to the web­site, tra­cking San­ta be­gins with NORAD’s North War­ning Sys­tem. This po­wer­ful radar sys­tem consists of 47 fa­ci­li­ties de­ployed all along the North Ame­ri­can bor­der. NORAD mo­ni­tors the radar clo­se­ly to find out in­for­ma­tion about San­ta Claus’s de­par­ture from the the North Pole on Ch­rist­mas Eve.
