Live with a physical disability for few hours
The annual celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities ( IDPD) is December 3rd of each year in conjunction with the World Program of Action concerning Disabled Persons, which was adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1982. It aims to foster an understanding of disability issues and to promote support for persons with disabilities while also ensuring their dignity, rights and wellbeing. It is estimated that more than 2% of serving members and over 6% of DND employees currently have permanent disabilities. For the occasion, CFB Bagotville held a disability awareness event on Friday, December 2nd, under the theme: "Inclusion counts: fostering access and empowerment for all." This activity was in the form of a contest where everyone had to live with a physical disability for the morning. A big thank you goes out to Desjardins Caisse des Militaires and the Canex, who generously offered four gift cards as prizes for the contest ( a total value of $ 300).
