Me­di­cal sup­port in ex­pe­di­tio­na­ry mis­sion

The 25th Ca­na­dian Forces Health Ser­vice Cen­ter in Ba­got­ville, to­ge­ther with 5th Field Am­bu­lance of Val­car­tier and other part­ners, par­ti­ci­pa­ted in Exer­cise Serpent Fear, on Oc­to­ber 6th.

The ob­jec­tive was to ef­fec­ti­ve­ly mo­ni­tor pa­tients du­ring the ae­ro­me­di­cal eva­cua­tion of these from the ope­ra- tio­nal thea­ter to a point of treat­ment, which in this sce­na­rio was the Ba­got­ville Me­di­cal Cli­nic. The exer­cise al­so ser­ved to main­tain the cli­ni­cal skills of flight doc­tors and flight nurses. Lieu­te­nant Com­man­der Mil­dred Ca­seyCamp­bell and Lieu­te­nant Roxane Lan­glois, Chief Me­di­cal Of­fi­cer and Nurse in Ba­got­ville, res­pec­ti­ve­ly. The exer­cise si­mu­la­ted the in­ter­ven­tion of 5 Ca­na­dian Me­cha­ni­zed Bri­gade Group in an in­ter­na­tio­nal conflict. The role of the health units was then to pro­vide care to the se­rious­ly in­ju­red while sa­fe­ly and ex­pe­di­tious­ly trans­por­ting them to a health fa­ci­li­ty that can take care of them.
