Trai­ning in Ba­got­ville be­fore Iraq

It was in wea­ther condi­tions close to those in the Middle East that Air Task Force Im­pact ( ATF- I) ROTO 7 be­gan pre- de­ploy­ment trai­ning at CFB Ba­got­ville on Wed­nes­day, Au­gust 8th.

The mem­bers of FOA- I ROTO 7 were as­sem­bled on a camp built spe­ci­fi­cal­ly for the oc­ca­sion near CFB Ba­got­ville’s airs­trip. Ca­na­dian Forces Mem­bers part of this mis­sion came main­ly from 14 Wing Green­wood, but al­so from other wings in­clu­ding 1st ( King­ston), 15th ( Moose Jaw), 17th ( Win­ni­peg), 19th ( Co­mox) and 22nd ( North Bay). This 14- day exer­cise, re­pro­du­cing as clo­se­ly as pos­sible the wor­king condi­tions ob­ser­ved in the ope­ra­tio­nal thea­ter, ser­ved both to sup­ple­ment the col­lec­tive trai­ning of the mem­bers of the ATF- I and to confirm their ope­ra­tio­nal rea­di­ness be­fore their de­par­ture. In pre­pa­ra­tion for this exer­cise, 2 Air Ex­pe­di­tio­na­ry Squa­dron ( 2 AES) de­ve­lo­ped, with the as­sis­tance of the Royal Ca­na­dian Air Force's Ae­ros­pace War­fare Cen­ter, a mo­du­lar, ope­ra­tion - spe­ci­fic pre- de­ploy­ment cur­ri­cu­lum. On Au­gust 21st, the mem­bers of ROTO 7 were rea­dy to be de­ployed as an ATF to meet their ROTO 6 col­leagues.
