Training in Bagotville before Iraq
It was in weather conditions close to those in the Middle East that Air Task Force Impact ( ATF- I) ROTO 7 began pre- deployment training at CFB Bagotville on Wednesday, August 8th.
The members of FOA- I ROTO 7 were assembled on a camp built specifically for the occasion near CFB Bagotville’s airstrip. Canadian Forces Members part of this mission came mainly from 14 Wing Greenwood, but also from other wings including 1st ( Kingston), 15th ( Moose Jaw), 17th ( Winnipeg), 19th ( Comox) and 22nd ( North Bay). This 14- day exercise, reproducing as closely as possible the working conditions observed in the operational theater, served both to supplement the collective training of the members of the ATF- I and to confirm their operational readiness before their departure. In preparation for this exercise, 2 Air Expeditionary Squadron ( 2 AES) developed, with the assistance of the Royal Canadian Air Force's Aerospace Warfare Center, a modular, operation - specific pre- deployment curriculum. On August 21st, the members of ROTO 7 were ready to be deployed as an ATF to meet their ROTO 6 colleagues.
