Les Nouvelles Saint-Laurent - - SPORTS - (S.S./M.B.)

The new season for AAA male collegial hockey is now underway. The St. Laurent Patriots, with their sharpened skates and shots, got things started with a good showing despite some setbacks.

The very first game was held on September 23. St. Laurent faced André-laurendeau, winning a first victory 5-4, after a shootout. The Patriots then beat Lionel-groulx (5-2), before coming into some setbacks, thanks to SorelTracy (8-3 then 6-3). They however succeeded with two wins against Harrington, with scores of 6-4 then 3-2.

In the general rankings, St. Laurent, SorelTracy and André-laurendeau share the top spot, with 8 points each.

Defense will have to tighten its ranks, because to date the St. Laurent lineup has more goals conceded than scored.

Sorel-tracy, which had an excellent season last year, has so far gotten off to a great start with very good preliminary results. To be continued.
