Legalizing marijuana seems senseless

-

Please tell us, Mr. Trudeau, why have you evoked the wrath of narcotics on the Canadian public!

It seems senseless, with the daily reports of the increasing deaths from opioids like fentanyl. Police seizures of fentanyl in Calgary alone were up 675 per cent over the last five-year average, as ably reported by Chief Robert A. Davis of the Lethbridge Police Service. The increased load on the police forces in the country just on this one new subject is beyond comprehension.

You did say, Mr. Trudeau, that you would run the country on a deficit of $10 billion, but now it is up over $30 billion, still without any much-needed job creation projects. Shamefully, your reports of inviting foreign well-heeled contractors to work on overdue roads, bridges, etc. smacks of exPM Harper’s five-year tax-free invitation of foreign financiers, a boondoggle that the people and youth of Vancouver and area will be suffering for generations. This ongoing housing crisis is reported on daily, and why is this Harper legacy never mentioned in the press?

With this ensuing fervour of the planned legalization of weed, as some people call it, there will be a fight over who gets the proposed tax benefits, and the thefts to buy the narcotic will increase the lawlessness in society. The detrimental effect on the health of the youths’ brains will put extra heavy loads on the already overburdened health-care system.

All one can predicate is, hold on, we’s going on a wild weed ride! Thank you, Justin!
