Mearns won’t seek another council term

Lethbridge Herald - - HOMETOWN NEWS - J.W. Schnarr LETHBRIDGE HERALD

City council member Bridget Mearns will not be running for re-election.

Mearns made the announcement on her Facebook page Friday afternoon, calling it a “very difficult decision.”

“I love this city and it has been a great honour to represent the interest of the citizens of Lethbridge as a member of city council for two terms,” she wrote.

She stated she is proud of what she was able to accomplish in her time on council, and that while there is more she would like to contribute, she was stepping back in order to focus on completing her MBA in executive management and to focus on professional development.

“As my heart truly is in public service, I look forward to serving the people of Lethbridge and Alberta again in some capacity,” she wrote.
