Lethbridge College makes it a special day for students
Lethbridge College held a two-hour barbecue and swag giveaway for its students on Thursday to help celebrate National Student Day.
“We are celebrating students and their success, and what they do on the side besides their schooling,” explained Lethbridge College manager of bookstore services Emily Campbell, who helped organize the day. “So the volunteering, academics, the sports side — all of it. To celebrate today they have free burgers, T-shirts, cotton candy, popcorn, pictures and everything. It helps take a little bit of the pressure off this time of year.”
And that’s another good reason to hold a special event like this on a cool, somewhat gloomy day in October, said Campbell.
“This is usually one of the hard times of year when homesickness sets in, and mid-terms are right on them. So we like to have one day where they can party, and everything is free for them. Students need to feel that we love them, and that we do want them to be successful in their academic careers.”
