Chinook, LCI win Grade 9 titles

Chinook High School and Lethbridge Collegiate Institute earned gold medals as the Lethbridge Schools Athletic Association staged its Grade 9 volleyball championships Wednesday night at Winston Churchill.

Chinook earned gold in the boys’ final, topping Kate Andrews of Coaldale 25-18, 25-16. In the semifinals, Chinook eliminated LCI 25-18, 2516, while Kate Andrews held off Father Leonard Van Tighem 25-22, 22-25, 15-13.

In the girls’ final, LCI fought back against St. Francis to win 17-25, 2523, 15-9. In the semis, LCI beat Winston Churchill 25-11, 25-21, while St. Francis swept Chinook 25-11, 25-14.
